Abstract
Background: Correlations among physical activity, blood cholesterol level, and stress levels in Korean adults (50-65 years) were analyzed.
Methods: Survey data that included health questionnaire-related physical activity and mental health and health examination-related blood data of Korean adults (50-65 years) were analyzed by using data from the first (2013) and sixth (2013-2015) Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
Results: Significant changes in blood cholesterol level were observed according to the frequencies of walking and muscular exercises per week among Korean adults aged 50-65 years. However, no significant changes in blood cholesterol level were observed according to the frequency of flexibility exercise per week. The frequencies of both walking and flexibility exercises per week significantly influenced blood cholesterol level. Meanwhile, the frequency of muscular exercises per week showed significant effects on stress.
Conclusion: Walking and flexibility exercises were effective for lowering blood cholesterol level, and muscular exercises was effective for stress relief in Korean adults aged 50-65 years according to this study.
