Abstract
Background: Fatigue is associated with physical activity. We conducted this study to analyze the relationship between physical activity and fatigue severity in fatigue patients.
Methods: Study subjects included 803 patients complaining of fatigue. Subjects completed self-rated questionnaires of aspects such as socioeconomic status, life habits, depression, sleep quality, physical activity (PA), fatigue severity. PA was assessed using IPAQ-K (Korean version of International Physical Activity Questionnaire, IPAQ short form) and PA levels were classified into 3 groups (low, moderate, high). We analyzed associations between the three levels of PA with factors such as fatigue severity, depression, pain, and sleep quality.
Results: PA levels were lower in subjects who were younger, had lower education level, and had poor nutritional status, but were not associated with pain severity, level of depression, or sleep quality. PA levels decreased with higher severity of fatigue after adjusting for age, level of education, and nutritional status (P=0.004).
Conclusion: PA levels were related to age, level of education, nutritional status, and fatigue severity in fatigue patients.
